Getting started

How much does HelloKiwi cost?
Nothing. HelloKiwi is free – the app and your account alike.
Which devices does HelloKiwi run on?
On iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 18.5 or later. For Android smartphones and tablets with Android 8 or later, HelloKiwi is coming soon to Google Play.
Which languages is HelloKiwi available in?
German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Portuguese.
What is the “Sample trip: Summer in Mallorca”?
When you first open HelloKiwi, it creates a sample trip for you to try out, with destinations, flights, expenses, tasks and a packing list. You can edit or delete it.
Which trip types are there?
19 – for example City trip, Beach vacation, Sailing trip, Ski trip, Camping, Campervan trip, Hiking & Trekking, Traveling with a dog, Traveling with kids or Accessible travel. Among other things, the trip type determines which packing suggestions you get.

Account & sign-in

Do I need an account?
You can use HelloKiwi without an account, too – your trips then stay on your device. To share trips with others and sync between your devices, you need a free account. With an account you can:
  • sync your trips between your devices
  • share trips and invite travel buddies
  • back up your data on our servers
  • export your data
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
How do I sign in?
With Apple, with Google, with your email address or with a passkey. If you choose email, we send you a 6-digit code that is valid for 10 minutes. No password needed. Passkeys work on Android 9 and later.
Where is my sign-in code?
It usually arrives within a few seconds. If not, check your spam folder. The code comes from noreply@hellokiwi.app. You can request a new code after 60 seconds. If it still doesn’t arrive, get in touch with us.
I have a new smartphone. How do my trips come along?
Easy: sign in on your new device with the same account, and your trips will sync – even when switching between iPhone and Android.

Sharing trips

How do I invite someone to my trip?
Open the trip and tap “Invite someone” in the “Sharing” section. Then send the link, for example by messenger or email. Each invitation is for one person – for several travel buddies, create several invitations. As soon as someone wants to join, you confirm it. Only the trip owner can invite people, and everyone needs an account.
How long is an invitation valid?
14 days. After that, simply send a new link.
I just installed the app from an invitation link. How do I join?
After installing, open the invitation link again or enter the code under “Enter invitation code”. Sign in – and your request to join goes to the trip owner.
Can iPhone and Android users plan a trip together?
Yes. Mixed groups are fully supported: everyone sees the same plan, whatever their device. The Android app is coming soon to Google Play.
Who can do what on a shared trip?
Everyone on the trip can edit it fully. Only the owner can:
  • invite more people
  • remove members
  • hand the trip over to someone else
  • delete the trip
What do other members see about me?
Your name and email address. All members of a trip see each other’s name and email address – so everyone knows who’s planning along.

Split expenses

Can I pay in different currencies?
Yes – that’s exactly what HelloKiwi is made for. Every trip has a settlement currency, which you can change at any time. Simply enter individual expenses like dinner or a taxi in their own currency. HelloKiwi fetches the exchange rate for the day of the expense automatically and converts everything into the settlement currency. So “Who pays whom?” works perfectly, even on trips through several countries.
How do I see who owes whom?
In your trip’s “Who pays whom?” settlement.
How do I split an expense?
Equally, by percentage or by fixed amounts. You can include or exclude individual travel buddies, and an expense can also be paid by several people.

Packing lists

Where do the packing list suggestions come from?
From ready-made suggestions for your trip type. If you’d like suggestions tailored to your destination and travel dates, use the AI packing assistant.
How do I give feedback on an AI suggestion?
Tap “Report content” on the item. Your note reaches us directly, and helps us keep improving the suggestions.

Offline & sync

Does HelloKiwi work offline?
Yes. Everything is stored on your device, so you can keep going without a connection. As soon as you’re back online, everything syncs, and weather, flight data, suggestions and the AI assistant are up to date again.
How do all my devices stay in sync?
Automatically: when your devices are online and signed in with the same account, HelloKiwi syncs all changes – including those made by your travel buddies.

Privacy & account

Where is my data stored?
On your device and – with an account – on our servers in the EU. You’ll find the details in our Privacy Policy.
Can I export my data?
Yes. With an account, go to Settings → Account → “Export my data” to get a copy of all your data at any time.
How do I delete my account?
Right in the app under Settings → Account → “Delete account and server data”. Everything else, including how to do it without the app, is on legal.hellokiwi.app.
